Nigeria's
Insecurity / Poverty
From Missionary Phyllis Sortor: I want to say something regarding solutions to Nigeria's insecurity and poverty. Bringing children of all tribes together in school, bringing teachers and staff of all tribes together in the workplace, then holding seminars, which would include our staff members and leaders statewide, where solutions are offered and discussed, would be a good beginning.
"Education is the key," said the Alkaleri LG Chairman to me yesterday, as we sat together in our Lexus at a service station in Bauchi! He had phoned our Bauchi school HM, asking for a meeting! As we were on our way back to Jos, filling the tank at this petrol station, the Chairman said, "No problem! I will come and meet you there!" Imagine, this politician had his driver bring him to the station, he clammered into the car and then began to thank us for our school, 'Partners in Progress'! With both Jarawa and Fulani, and other tribes as well, our school has over 450 pupils!
The Chairman is arranging for me to meet the State Governor! Bauchi State would be a great venue for a seminar on intertribal peace and cooperation. Other state leaders could be invited to the seminar as well, and solutions discussed. Together, with the Lord, we can find our way to peace!
Bauchi School / Clinic
WHAT AN INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY WE HAVE!
Imagine - we're changing someone's LIFE - through education, and our love. Not just ONE someone... over 4,500 students total are now enrolled in our schools in Nigeria! We are also changing their families, for the better! These kids have a bright future, and all because YOU chose to invest in God's Kingdom. Praise God!
The total enrollment at Bauchi School is 450 pupils! The HM had to close enrollment for lack of classroom space! We're engaging 5 student teachers to come and assist!

Partners in Progress Primary School, Bauchi State

Classrooms are at the right, and teachers quarters on the left. The clinic is on the far right.

We had to turn this storeroom into two additional classrooms!

This is our beautiful staff, Muslims and Christians working together in peace!

This is our school's manager. He's the one who told me, when we first started building, that he and the community had prayed for so long, for a school, and now that we had come, and they 'saw us with their naked eyes', it was like a dream come true!

This is Head Teacher Mr. Timothy Kamji, explaining how they replace the meds in the clinic using money they collected from previous sales of meds and medical services.

The man on the right is Manager's son, a trained Community Health Extension Worker (or CHEW), as is the young woman who works with him. She was absent yesterday.

SO HAPPY that we can provide a quality education for these precious children!

The future of Nigeria is in our hands, and education is KEY!

Help us to open MORE schools and train up MORE good leaders for tomorrow! Together, we are making a difference!
