About Bright Hope Christian Academy Primary AND Secondary School (aka Hope Academy)
Bright Hope Christian Academy Primary and Secondary School has 318 students and 23 teachers! This is the FIRST school Phyllis opened with International Childcare Ministries. Hope Academy Emiworo was established February, 2008 in a small village, Emiworo, by Rev. Phyllis Sortor alongside with her husband, Jim Sortor, with four classrooms. The school graduated it's first set of students in 2012/2013, and secondary school (high school) started that very year. Now the school fully runs nursery, primary and secondary school. ICCM and Phyllis ran the school until 2016. In 2021, Schools for Africa took over the administration of the school again. Emiworo is a small community with about 4,800 population. The community operates two major political parties and has a peaceful atmosphere even during elections, which can be tumultuous. The Emiworo community is having an economic downturn because the country (Nigeria) as a whole is facing inflation. Most people in Emiworo community are farmers, fishermen, small business owners, and government workers.
